084 Bowhead Whale

In a place most people rarely visit—
the Arctic Ocean, the very edge of the world where everything goes quiet.
Dodoland has always had a soft spot for animals that live in such peaceful, untouched places.
And there, we fell in love with a whale that spends its entire life in the far north:
the quiet yet beautiful Bowhead Whale.

The bowhead whale is known as one of the longest-living mammals on the planet.
It doesn’t race against time or rush the seasons—
it simply lives, steadily and silently, inside the rhythm of the Arctic.
And that’s what makes it so extraordinary.

Its name comes from something wonderfully straightforward:
its huge bow-shaped mouth.
And because of that shape, from a distance it almost looks like it’s gently smiling.
Just imagining that “smile” in the middle of an icy sea
somehow warms your heart.

Inside the bowhead whale’s mouth is an even more fascinating secret.
It has baleen up to three meters long,
made up of about 300 plates.
This isn’t teeth—
it’s more like a giant natural filter,
designed to take in seawater and strain out only what it needs.
That’s how the bowhead whale feeds on plankton
and tiny crustaceans like krill.

It doesn’t need to be loud,
and it doesn’t need to be fast—
its very existence carries a quiet kind of majesty.
Maybe that’s why Dodoland fell for the bowhead whale:
because of the beauty of long time held inside its silence.

As you build,
the stillness of the Arctic
and the warmth of that smiling mouth
will meet at your fingertips—
and become one complete bowhead whale story.
