ORIGIN & HABITAT

These mystical creatures drift through tropical and temperate coastal waters across the globe. Unlike open-ocean swimmers, they prefer the "enchanted forests" of the sea—mangroves, seagrass beds, and colourful coral reefs. Because they are not strong swimmers, they use their monkey-like tails to anchor themselves to plants, swaying gently with the ocean currents like living decorations.

The name Hippocampus translates to "Horse Sea Monster," but this little guy is a lover, not a fighter. Covered in tiny, spiny plates from head to tail, they look like knights in shining armour.
