Helping our Neighbours Close to Home
Northland Community Foundation
Whangārei, a small city of about 96,000 people located two hours north of Auckland on New Zealand’s North Island, is where EUGY was born. While working to support the children’s ward at Whangārei Hospital, we met the Northland Community Foundation — an organisation that helps not only the hospital but also families, children, and communities in need across the wider Northland region.
As one of 18 Community Foundations across Aotearoa New Zealand, they are part of the Community Foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand (CFANZ) network.
Even though they’ve been right here in our own city, discovering them feels like finding a hidden gem. The Northland Community Foundation reaches out to corners of our community that government support can’t always reach — connecting people, strengthening communities, and bringing everyone together.
We’re deeply grateful to walk alongside them on this journey, helping to make our region a kinder and more connected place.

Sanctuary of Native Animals
The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary
The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary is the largest wildlife sanctuary on the South Island of New Zealand — 690 hectares of protected native bush surrounded by 14.3 km of pest-proof fencing.
Started over 20 years ago by passionate volunteers, it’s now cared for by a small team and more than 300 volunteers who give over 20,000 hours each year to protect this special place.
The Sanctuary is home to rare and endangered species such as Kākāriki Karaka and 41 Kiwi Pukupuku — the only ones living on the South Island mainland. After years of effort and support from Ngāti Koata, the kaitiaki (guardians) of the Tuatara, these ancient reptiles have now found a safe home here too.
It’s a story of hope, dedication, and the deep bond between people and nature.

Writers Inc, affiliated with the Boston Children’s Hospital community

One email that arrived in our Customer Service inbox led us to a very special connection with Boston Children’s Hospital, and eventually to Writers Inc.
The email was from someone who shared the wish of a seriously ill child — the child’s dream was to have an EUGY Sasquatch. We quickly designed and produced a few special pieces just for that child, hoping to bring a little joy during such a difficult time.
That young life left this world with beautiful memories of our EUGY, and through that experience, we came to know Writers Inc, a community within Boston Children’s Hospital.
Writers Inc creates books made by children who are patients at the hospital — children who are bravely facing serious illnesses. They draw the pictures, they write the stories, and those books are given to their families and friends to cherish.
It’s a charity that ensures these children remain close to us — through their words, drawings, and stories — even when they are no longer here.
We hope more people around the world will come to know and support the incredible work of Writer’s Inc and the spirit of these amazing children.
