A friend or a foe? Blue Jays are incredibly intelligent and noisy birds that can mimic sounds, such as the call of hawks, to either scare off other birds from their territory, or, to help other birds by alarming them that predators are nearby!
While these birds may have a ‘bad reputation’, they are protective and family-oriented birds, these acorn-lovers have been credited with helping plant and spread oak trees since after the last glacial period! So we say they’re a friend!
